About HolisticHR

Trusted HR Support for Mission-Driven Organizations With Small Teams

HolisticHR was created to meet the unique HR needs of nonprofits, social impact organizations, and small teams that want to build strong people operations but lack the internal capacity to do it alone. We believe HR should be more than policies and paperwork—it should be a driver of growth, clarity, and organizational health.

Meet the Team

Serious about HR. Less serious about everything else.

Kris Ritter

Owner & Principal Consultant

Originally from Michigan, I bring a blend of Midwest practicality, people-centered strategy, and a tolerance for snowy winters. When I’m not partnering with mission-driven organizations, you’ll find me indulging in my favorite things: befriending animals, treasure hunting at thrift stores and estate sales, planning my next travel adventure, and perfecting the art of the homemade latte.

My happiest place on earth? With family, two-legged and four-legged, or in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula looking out over Lake Superior and far from email notifications.

With over 20 years of experience working with mission-driven organizations across the United States, I bring deep expertise in HR strategy and operations that ensure HR is a organizational success.

Credentials: BA (Michigan State), MA (Central Michigan), PHR, SHRM Workplace Investigations, Certified Working Genius Facilitator, Authorized Everything DiSC® Partner. LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/kritterhr.

Penny (Lane)

Chief Security & Risk Officer

At 10 years old, Penny has perfected the art of vigilance. As our self-appointed Chief Security & Risk Officer, she oversees all matters of protection — physical, emotional, cyber, and especially snack-related.
Known around the office as “The Enforcer,” Penny brings a strategic mind and a no-nonsense approach to keeping operations running smoothly. She has an uncanny ability to detect trouble before it surfaces (or before the delivery driver even turns onto the street).

Beau

Director of Procurement & Foraged Goods

At 4 years old, Beau brings enthusiasm, dedication, and a strong bias toward action… sometimes too much action. As Director of Procurement & Foraged Goods, he takes great pride in sourcing “high-value” backyard inventory and delivering it directly to HQ. Whether or not anyone asked.
While he may not be the strategist of the group, Beau leads with heart. His morale-boosting presence is matched only by his world-class sniffing abilities. Beau can detect food from distances previously believed to be scientifically impossible — making him both a culinary security risk and an invaluable resource during snack time.
